FAQ: Tenant Insurance
Why am I required to have “per location” if I only have one location?
- The per location requirement applies to the aggregate limit on the general liability policy and ensures separate liability limits for each location as opposed to sharing one limit. This will ensure the aggregate limit applies only to the IRC location rather than any other locations added in the future.
What does Primary and Non-Contributory mean?
- Primary and Non-Contributory is commonly used in insurance requirements to stipulate the order in which multiple polices triggered by the same loss are to respond. For example, a tenant may be required to provide liability insurance that is primary and non- contributory. This means that the tenant’s policy must pay before other applicable polices (primary) and without seeking contribution from other policies that also claim to be primary (non-contributory).
